Remission Biome

Remission Biome is our founding project. It started in early 2023 with a pilot program followed by an n=50 study nicknamed the Renegade 50. It uses antibiotics, probiotics, and other supplements, gut prep, safety tests, symptom and other tracking. Its goal is to trigger transient remission events and/or long term increases in baseline functioning in people with ME/CFS and Long Covid who may also have multiple co-morbidities. Participants include people from mild to severe.

Remission Biome data team analyst Thomas Varley, PhD, MPhil, presented a poster titled "Identifying transient remissions from ME/CFS associated with antibiotics: A mixed-methods study." at the August 2025 Keystone Symposia Long COVID and Other Post-Acute Infection Syndromes Conference in Santa Fe, NM. See below for web friendly image of the poster and the PDF is also available.

See the Remission Biome website for more about this specific project and team.
